Presenters - We Welcome You!

Our Movers and Shakers series began in 2018 when we wanted to start opening up our PD sessions from awesome presenters to our local Pilates community. It was a hit, not just for the content but also for the connection back into the local community. We’ve run these workshops every year since, and in 2024, we took it national for the first time.

The Movers And Shakers Way

  • Question - create a safe space for people to think about what they are doing, and could it be better

  • Listen - open-minded and analytical brains are always welcome.

  • Contribute - you know more than you think, be sure to share it

  • Grow - you don’t have all the answers, you never will, but at least you’re willing to keep learning!

We use these principles to guide us. The workshops don’t have to have all the answers, they’re more about creating a safe space for open-minded practitioners to come together and delve in to new ideas or concepts, and see where their own teaching or practice may benefit.

How it works

Our Job: we do all the hosting work, including website, bookings, recording, editing, uploading and all communications. Marketing is a shared role, where we provide some basic frameworks and do lots in our socials, but ultimately the more people we can get in, the better it works financially for both of us - so we need your help too. We then host it on our system for future sales, split with the presenter.

Your Job: initially we’ll just need basic content for the website and booking system. Closer to the time, we’ll require marketing content that we’ll also share with you. And then on the day, it’s about ensuring you deliver the workshop clearly and in a timely fashion. You will be in charge of where and how you deliver the workshop. If you need to hire space, we can look at helping with that cost.

Finances: We promise a minimum $300 fee for presenting, but if we get over 30 participants, then we split income 50/50. In 2024, we had some presenters clear over $1000 (Inc.GST) when their workshops cleared 50 participants. All sales from online access are also split 50/50, and you will be paid automatically via PayPal.

Workshop Delivery: historically we’ve pushed to have an in-person element, and an online element (live-streamed, and recorded with lifetime access). At times, the audio can be tricky in this hybrid environment, with the online element not being able to hear questions or comments from the in-person element, for example. So generally we’re aiming for online-only workshops going forward. HOWEVER - if you think you can facilitate in-person with good access to audio for the online participants, then we would LOVE to make this happen. Community has always been a big focus, so getting people together where possible would be ideal.

We also aim to deliver at 2pm local time, on the 3rd Friday in most months - this isn’t a hard and fast thing, and can be adjusted if needed.

Workshop Content: we aim for content to be something that elevates a participant’s thinking, and is highly practical. The workshop doesn’t have to have all the answers, but create space for people to explore new ideas. You own the IP, our only request is that if you want to keep running the workshop, that we provide the only online access to it (for 2 years) - we can arrange access for future participants to get access if that’s desired. You can also pitch other events or courses you run.

Ultimately, we’re trying to create a high quality, low cost and very accessible avenue for Practitioners to progress themselves, without the rigmarole of signing up to large courses, multi-day events and the like. It’s not going to be a huge money spinner for us, but it can be very rewarding in other ways.

If this sounds like something you’d like to participate in, please reach out to rob@movementality.com.au with what you’d like to present.

BONUS SUPPORT

If you’re thinking you’d like to go more into workshop presenting on your own, we have the ability to facilitate the online hosting side of recordings for minimal cost. This would be completely separate to us, with only the URL showing Movementality, but everything else branded towards you. If this is something you’d be interested in exploring, please reach out to Rob and we’ll discuss what your options are.
